CIS poem

I wrote this poem for a school talent show. I didn’t win. But later I found out the teachers liked it so much, I was invited to take part in the primary arts showcase. It took a lot of rehearsal and a lot of practice. And finally on the performance day the whole showcase group was ready to perform for everyone.
There were so many different talents from gymnastics to a whole play. It was lots of fun. Everyone liked everything. Especially my poem. I hope you enjoy it as much.







Come to CIS, that’s in Singapore,
Learn everything about the world and more! It’s amazing here, sunshine or rain,
Come over walking, bus, taxi or train!
We even have our own school bus,
It’s our own world on our campus! Everything you need is in our school,
We assure you we are very cool!
The teachers are so kind,
They open up your mind,
They help you understand what to do,
And help you with your problems too!
When you get something wrong, they don’t make a face, Instead they explain the topic, then give you some space.
Making friends? Easy peasy!
Simple as counting 1-2-3!
Soon everyone says: “Come play with me!”
The Atrium’s spiraling flags, round and round,
In the morning the principals are always around!
A group of friends listen to the piano being played,
While the pianist tries to remember the piece he had made.
We dress up for musicals and plays,
We had been rehearsing TROLLS for so many days! But thanks a lot COVID,
We couldn’t even show it.
Moana, Mulan, Beauty And The Beast,
We could perform those at least!
The Red Dot cafe is full of many treats,
But we care for your health, so sorry no sweets.
But you will always have something delicious to eat, So go on in, and grab a seat!
Soccer star, artist, scientist or engineer, You can be anything you want over here!
I would love to tell you just a little bit more, It truly is the best of Singapore!

Off To School

  Nina, Milli and Ajeet got ready as quickly as possible to get to the bridge first, but as soon as they reached the bridge there was already a huge line of kids. They were  all talking and playing games together while waiting for their turn. Ajeet and the girls joined. The bridge had been there for a long time. The bridge was old and broken, it had a few broken planks here and there and the children were worried that if they were standing on breaks they would fall in the river. So they went one by one and slowly jumped over the broken planks. one Sunday night a storm arrived and it rained very much. The rain went Pitter Patter on the floor. Hey! My name is Katie Smith and I am 14 years old. I live with my two brothers (James and Daniel), a mother, a father and aunt Lucinda.
